Southside Sausage Gravy with Homemade Biscuits

A Southside take on a Texas breakfast staple, our Fresh Original Sausage will bring the flavor to your weekend breakfast. 
Gravy Recipe
Ingredients:
Directions:

Heat large pot on medium high heat
Remove sausage from casing, break into pieces and cook for 5 minutes until brown
Add onions and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes until translucent
Turn heat down to medium
Add flour and cook for another 3 minutes
Turn down to low heat
Add milk, cream, hot sauce and spices
Cook until gravy is thickened, stirring constantly – may take 10-15 minutes.

Serve over biscuits and enjoy! (biscuit recipe below)
Recipe makes enough gravy to feed 6-8 adults

Biscuit Recipe

Makes 10-12 biscuits

Ingredients:
  • 4 cups flour
  • 5 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 sticks frozen grated butter
  • 2 cups buttermilk
Directions:

Mix dry ingredients in bowl
Add buttermilk & combine to form dough – should be sticky
Fold in frozen grated butter to dough

Roll dough out on floured surface and cut biscuits for baking. Place on greased baking tray for baking.

Bake in 400 degree oven for 10-13 minutes until golden brown.
